Kristin Petersen | Broker Associate | Adams, Cameron & Co., REALTORS®
When buying or selling a home, the person negotiating on your behalf can make a meaningful difference.
I'm Kristin Petersen, a Florida real estate Broker Associate with more than 34 years of experience in real estate, mortgage financing, brokerage operations, and property valuation.
Over the years, I've learned that successful negotiation isn't simply about winning or getting someone to agree to a number. It's about understanding the market, anticipating challenges, recognizing opportunities, and protecting the interests of the people I represent.
My negotiation philosophy combines strategic analysis, creative problem-solving, and strong client advocacy. I adapt my approach to the circumstances, personalities, and priorities involved in each transaction.
Effective negotiation begins long before an offer is presented.
I study comparable sales, current competition, property condition, market trends, and the factors that may influence a buyer's or seller's decisions.
My background in mortgage financing and property valuation helps me recognize potential issues involving financing, appraisals, and contract terms.
Some negotiations require patience. Others require decisive action.
Sometimes the strongest strategy involves negotiating the purchase price. Other times, creative contract terms, closing dates, or concessions can produce a better overall outcome.
I believe knowing when to push, when to listen, and when to change direction is an essential part of effective representation.
My responsibility is to represent my client's interests—not simply to get a transaction closed.
That means explaining the options, identifying potential risks, and offering straightforward advice, even when the conversation is difficult.
Sometimes the right strategy is to negotiate firmly. Other times, walking away may be the better decision.
Real estate negotiations involve much more than price.
Inspection findings, appraisal challenges, financing contingencies, repairs, concessions, and closing timelines can all influence whether a transaction reaches closing.
I approach these challenges by looking for practical solutions while keeping my client's goals at the center of every decision.
When representing sellers, I focus on:
Developing a pricing strategy supported by current market data.
Evaluating offers based on price, financing, contingencies, and likelihood of closing.
Negotiating inspection requests and potential concessions.
Addressing appraisal and financing challenges.
Helping sellers understand their options throughout the transaction.
The highest offer isn't always the strongest offer. Understanding the difference is part of protecting a seller's interests.
For buyers, successful negotiation begins with understanding a property's value and the current market.
I help buyers evaluate comparable sales, property condition, market competition, and contract terms before determining an offer strategy.
My mortgage industry background provides additional perspective when financing and appraisal considerations become part of the negotiation.
My objective is to help buyers make informed decisions without allowing emotions or unnecessary pressure to dictate the outcome.
Real estate markets change. Interest rates rise and fall. Negotiating leverage shifts between buyers and sellers.
Experience provides perspective that can be particularly valuable when a transaction becomes complicated.
Throughout my career, I've worked through different market conditions and helped clients navigate a wide variety of real estate decisions.
I was honored to be named 2025 REALTOR® of the Year and to serve as 2025 President of the Daytona Beach Area Association of REALTORS®.
These accomplishments reflect my commitment to the real estate profession, but my focus when representing a client is always on their individual goals.
Look for an agent with extensive transaction experience, strong local market knowledge, an understanding of financing and valuation, and a proven ability to navigate challenging negotiations. Ask about their approach and request examples of transactions they've handled.
Experience can help an agent recognize opportunities, evaluate the strength of an offer, anticipate potential obstacles, and recommend strategies appropriate to the market. No agent can guarantee a specific outcome.
Yes. Purchase price is only one part of a real estate transaction. Financing contingencies, inspections, closing dates, concessions, and other terms can significantly affect an offer's overall value and risk.
An experienced broker can help evaluate circumstances, communicate with the parties, negotiate solutions, and guide clients through the real estate transaction. Legal, tax, or specialized financial questions may require advice from the appropriate professionals.
I primarily serve Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach, including Halifax Plantation and surrounding neighborhoods. I also work with buyers and sellers in Port Orange, Palm Coast, and other communities throughout Volusia and Flagler Counties.
If you're considering buying or selling a home, I'd welcome the opportunity to discuss your goals and develop a strategy appropriate for your situation.
